2019 Team Outlook – The 2019 team returns a strong senior class although they lost 10 seniors to graduation. They will look to varsity returners Ethan Salak (sophomore Coastal Carolina signee), Kyler Ham (SR) and Andrew Leo (SR) on the mound. Also, Randy Smith (JR), Buddy Smith (JR), and Shawn Taylor (JR) will provide needed innings as newcomers to varsity along with Aaron Sadler (JR) a transfer from Missouri. The sharks will be strong up the middle as Nick Smith (SR) and Andrew Leo bring experience. Caleb Bondi (SR), Kyler Ham, and Marshall Freeman (JR) will play corner positions and be impact players and big sticks in the lineup. When he is not pitching, Ethan Salak will play centerfield and is their best returning hitter. Along with Ethan, Tanner Johnstone (SR) brings experience to the outfield and a good bat to the lineup. Behind the dish, the sharks have two strong catchers in Nikko Andre (JR) and Austin Short (SR). There will be an unusual abundance of strong left-handed swingers in the shark lineup (up to 7 lefty sticks). St James will look to continue a trend of strong shark defense plus put up big run totals in 2019.
